At the Heritage Center for Marriage and Family, we specialize in supporting relationships across the life span. We provide a variety of therapy services including individual, group, and couples/family therapy.
We offer ongoing relationship counseling using the leading edge models of treatment based on solid research such as the Gottman method of therapy developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy by Dr. Susan Johnson. Partners seek counseling for a variety of reasons such as communication issues, feeling disconnected from each other and unable to feel understood by their partner, intimacy problems, parenting or collaborating as a team, infidelity, life dreams/goals, unsolvable conflict, and past trauma. It is also extremely helpful for couples facing experiencing external stress outside of their relationship as well as approaching major life transitions such as getting married, having a baby, retiring, etc. Couples therapy can teach valuable skills for maintaining connection and offering a road map for repair.
Extended Sessions & Marathon Therapy
You want to stabilize your relationship quickly by gaining insight into chronic, problematic dynamics, and by learning new skills to break through gridlock. Extended Sessions are counseling sessions booked for 2 or more hours on a single day. Couples who may be interested in extended sessions are couples traveling a distance, couples wanting to jump-start their assessment, couples working through a crisis or couples who enjoy being able to relax in a longer session format.
Gottman Relationship Checkup
The Gottman couples assessment is a structured assessment process that is based on the research protocol of Drs. John and Julie Gottman who developed a proven method for evaluating a committed intimate relationship. The Gottman Couples Assessment can help pinpoint what causes the relationship trouble spots as well as the strengths that hold you together. This assessment is geared towards all stages of relationships, whether new relationship, premarital or marital.
Gottman Seven Principles Program
This class is designed to strengthen your marriage or relationship. If you have a strong relationship, this class will provide you with insights and tools to make it even better. If your relationship is distressed, this class will provide a road map for repair.
Pre-Marital or Pre-Commitment Counseling and Education
Couples can choose to come to weekly sessions or choose to combine sessions in an extended session format. This might include combining sessions two or three at a time, or completing all of the sessions in a day or over a weekend.
